The Kasoa Police Divisional Command in collaboration with the Central Regional Command has in a swoop arrested 340 persons suspected to be engaging in cybercrime activities.

The operation dubbed “operation storm Kasoa”, according to the police is part of efforts to clamp down on criminals in the area.

Majority of the suspects arrested were Nigerians including five females. Areas including Budumburam, Ofaakor, Adade, Akweley and CP.

Addressing the press, DCOP Habiba Twumasi Sarpong, said a total of 245 laptops, 142 assorted mobile phones and 6 Nigerian passports were retrieved.

She said, nine out of the suspects were in possession with substance suspected to be indian hemp.

The suspects, she said will be screened and those found culpable will be arraigned before court.

DCOP Habbiba Twumasi Sarpong urged the public charge not to hide information about criminals but rather alert the police to help deal with increasing criminal activities in our various communities.
