The Circuit Court in Accra has remanded dancehall musician Charles Nii Amarh Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale into police custody for one week.
This was after Shatta Wale pleaded not guilty to one charge count to wit; Publication of false news that caused fear and panic in the public domain.
Three others who appeared in court with him Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Shatta’s personal assistance, Eric Vanetor, a graphic designer and Iddrisu Yussif, a beautician were charged for abetment of criminal of publication of false news.
All the accused persons pleaded not guilty and have been remanded into custody.
Shatta Wale reported himself to the Police on Tuesday evening after his house was surrounded by dozens of officers following claims that he was shot by unknown gunmen.
His Personal Assistant was the first to announce on social media that his boss had been shot. The PA, Nana Dope, is also in custody.
The ‘Bullet’ hitmaker has however apologized for the fake news.
